Bombardiers Win at Hialeah, 5-2
|
Cincinnati registered a win at Firecats Ballpark by beating the Hialeah Firecats, 5-2. Pitcher Mike Pinion was one reason why the Bombardiers triumphed. Pinion, now 2-5, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Heath Johnston, credited with the save, is now 3 for 6 in save opportunities.
Cincinnati used the hitting of Ashton McSparin to pick up the win. The shortstop clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Bombardiers on top, 5-0. For the game, McSparin had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I was able to really locate my pitches tonight," said Pinion.
The 5th-place Bombardiers improved to 25-40.
