Cincinnati Collects 8-3 Win
|
Tom Johnson was a major factor in the 8-3 Cincinnati win over Stockton. The Bombardiers designated hitter hit 2 home runs. Justin Thompson picked up the win with 7.1 innings of work. He allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 7. On the season, he is now 1-3. Cincinnati occupies third place in the Western AA Coastal Division at 31-32.
Cincinnati used a well-timed hit by Darren Gemme to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Bombardiers ahead, 4-0. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Johnson said.
