Milkmen Get 6-3 Win Versus Hamilton
|
Though he had a stellar game, Todd Stevens could not prevent his team, the Hamilton Bulldogs, from losing, 6-3, to the Vermont Milkmen. Stevens went 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Jason Phillips earned the save for Vermont, his 6th of the year. The defeat makes Hamilton 29-33.
The Bulldogs had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Milkmen going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old second baseman Mike Campbell came to the plate. Campbell hit a 2-run double on a first pitch splitter from Hamilton hurler Bobby Carrero. It was Campbell's 14th double of the year.
Vermont manager Mike Barriga commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
