Scorpions Take Tight Tangle
|
The Sonoma Scorpions and Cincinnati Bombardiers put on quite a show.
It took 11 innings, but the Sonoma Scorpions were able to beat the Cincinnati Bombardiers, 6-5, at Ballpark of Cincinnati. Armando Cuevas provided some offensive muscle for Sonoma. He was 3-5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. The first-place Scorpions are now 34-28, the Bombardiers 24-38.
Bill Hoeltke was 1-3 with 2 walks and was hit by a pitch for Sonoma. With one out and the game tied in the top of the 11th inning, Hoeltke had a clutch at-bat. Facing Cincinnati hurler Max Mascareno, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run to give the Scorpions a 6-5 lead.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Cuevas, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
