Cavalry Upend Boll Weevils, 6-2
|
With center fielder Brandon Hund leading the charge, the St. Louis Cavalry defeated the Miami Boll Weevils, 6-2, at Cavalry Ballpark. Hund, the 31st overall pick in the 2018 draft, was 2-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Jim Unknown was the winning pitcher. Over 7.2 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, with 3 walks and 6 strikeouts. The Cavalry improved their record to 26-36 with the win over Miami.
St. Louis grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when Hund hit a 3-run home run off Xavier Tomlin. His 3rd home run of the season put the Cavalry out in front, 3-0.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Miami manager Bill Murtha. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
