Gregg Cuevas was instrumental in his team's 3-1 triumph over the Hialeah Firecats. The pitcher threw 6.2 innings of 2-hit ball for the Miami Boll Weevils. Miami is now 22-37. Hialeah is 21-38.

Mike Ross, who is tied for 8th in the W-AA in triples with 3, took Hialeah hurler Paul Lessard deep in the bottom of the eighth. His 2-run home run put the Boll Weevils on top, 3-1. In all, Ross had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"Anytime you're seeing it well, it's a good feeling," Cuevas told the Miami Herald.
