Royals Use Late Score to Top Milkmen, 3-2
|
The Cornwall Royals, despite a fine performance by Vermont pitcher Abel Viar, grabbed a 3-2 win at King George Park. Viar allowed no runs over 7 innings. The 5th-place Royals sport a record of 20-38.
Batting in the bottom of the ninth, 23-year old right fielder Ryan Collins had a real shot to win the game. Vermont pitcher Luke Getts was determined not to let it happen. But with two outs, Collins hit a run-scoring single. The Royals had a walk-off triumph.
"Both teams played hard," said Cornwall manager Ivan Cabrera.
