The Hialeah Firecats picked up a win at Firecats Ballpark, knocking off the Miami Boll Weevils, 2-1. On the mound for Hialeah was right-hander Casey Higgins. He played a key role in the triumph. Picking up the save was 24-year old right-handed pitcher Kevin Massey. The losing streak for Miami has now reached 4 games.
The Firecats got a big at-bat from center fielder Eric Adkin. For the game, Adkin was 2-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 5th double of the season gave Hialeah a 2-1 lead.
Higgins said his team "played with determination."
