Cincinnati Downed, 9-4, by Cavalry
|
The Cincinnati Bombardiers could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Jason Berry into a win. Instead, the St. Louis Cavalry prevailed, 9-4. Berry threw 6.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The win gives the Cavalry a record of 19-36.
John Yarbrough came through with a big-time hit for St. Louis. The pinch hitter smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 6-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"We didn't pitch good, and when you don't pitch good, you lose," said Cincinnati manager Carlos Almendarez.
