Mike Redmond pitched well, but the Vail Tigercats still fell short, losing, 3-0, to the Miami Boll Weevils at Vail Grounds. Miami reliever Mike Brandon picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Mike Redmond took the loss. Dave Vondrasek closed out the game, earning his 5th save.

Miami used the hitting of Javier Tarango to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Boll Weevils on top, 2-0. For the game, Tarango had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Tarango said.

The Boll Weevils raised their record to 26-29.
