The New York Nightmare did just enough to sneak past the Detroit Giants, 4-3, at Nightmare Stadium. New York pitcher Joe Schroeder, in particular, had a standout performance. The Nightmare raised their record to 31-31.

With one out in the bottom of the seventh, Rob Black had a game-changing hit. The Nightmare designated hitter slammed a run-scoring single off Allan Kelley, making the score 3-1, New York.

"Both teams played hard," said New York manager Joey Bishop.
