Boston Whistlers pitcher Jay Helm was in fine form, leading his team past the Carolina Crown, 4-1. The winner was Helm. He threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Jose Betancourt. Mark Dudley collected his 14th save.

Ben King had a big run-scoring double for the Whistlers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Boston leading 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from 30-year old left-handed pitcher Jose Betancourt and swatted a double to center. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Whistlers ahead, 3-1.

"Nice to see our side come away with the win," King said after the game.

The Whistlers are now 33-28.
