San Diego Fleet starter Rodolfo Soto pitched a strong game against the Detroit Giants at San Diego Stadium, leading the Fleet to victory, 6-5. Nate Holyfield finished the game for San Diego and earned his 2nd save. The Fleet now have a record of 27-34 with the win over Detroit.

San Diego took a 6-4 lead on Sergio Portillo's 6th double of the season. The bases-clearing double, which Portillo hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Detroit pitcher Nick Turpen visibly frustrated.

"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Portillo.
