Detroit pitcher Quito Herrera did his part in helping his team beat the San Diego Fleet, 4-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Detroit improves to 34-26 with the win. They lead their division by 3 games.

Glenn Valentine, who is tied for 3rd in the AC in triples with 4, had a direct impact on the outcome. Valentine contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the 11th inning to put Detroit up, 4-3.
