Tampa Bay got a valiant performance from pitcher Jeremy Schroeter, but it wasn't enough to beat the Chicago Gangsters. Chicago won the game, 2-1. Schroeter threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Tampa Bay's current losing streak is now 6 games.
Chicago used the timely hitting of Hector Alvarez to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Gangsters on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
Alvarez told the Chicago Herald: "Win or lose, I don't want to see our team outhustled."
