The Scorpions grabbed a win, 1-0, at Scorpion Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from Tampa Bay pitcher Mike Medley. Medley went 7.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Ken Allbaugh, credited with the save, is now 41 for 47 in save opportunities. By defeating Tampa Bay, the second-place Scorpions improved to 77-83.

Syracuse first baseman Chris Service contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 150th hit of the season and put the Scorpions ahead, 1-0.

"Feels good to get the job done," Service said after the game.
