Sandusky beat Oakland on the strength of starter Chris Bentley's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-3. Bentley went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 10 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 2-4. With the win over Oakland, the Seagulls improved to 70-89.

Jimmy Vert, the 24-year old right fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Vert contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the seventh inning to put Sandusky up, 5-3.

"We'll enjoy this win," said Vert. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
