Getting a good performance from catcher Malachi Smith, the Sandusky Seagulls defeated the Daytona Beach Sea Turtles, 5-2. Smith went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Seagulls. Lorenzo Villarreal was the winner. Over 8 innings, he yielded 2 runs on 7 hits, with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. Mike Fisher locked down his 32nd save.

With Sandusky leading 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Smith hit a fastball from Ray Fight for a grand slam home run. It was his 11th home run of the season and put the Seagulls ahead, 5-0.
