The Vancouver Caribou did just enough to secure a victory over the San Francisco Fire, 5-4, in 14 innings at Mounties Field. Nobody did more than left fielder Cesar Ornelas. The defeat makes San Francisco 67-92.

The decisive blow was delivered by Kevin Schneider in the bottom of the 14th when he hit a solo home run off 22-year old left-handed pitcher Ron Lombardi to win the game for Vancouver. The home crowd went nuts.

"What a great win for our team," said a jubilant Pete Clark, the Vancouver manager.
