Hollywood Absorbs 7-4 Loss to San Diego
|
Carlos Miranda was a major factor in the 7-4 San Diego win over Hollywood. The Fleet first baseman went 2 for 4 with a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The winner was Tom Balletta, who threw 84 pitches over 6 innings. The left-hander was charged with 4 runs on 6 hits. With the win over Hollywood, the Fleet improved to 100-59.
The Stars had been locked in a 4-4 tie with the Fleet going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the former first round draft pick Jacob Kennedy came to the plate. Kennedy hit a 2-run home run on a 1-0 cutter from Hollywood hurler Jeremy Philbrick. It was Kennedy's 9th home run of the year.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Kennedy told the San Diego Citizen.
