Aztecs Rack Up 6-1 Win Versus San Francisco
|
Mexico City right-hander Jay Sikora pitched his team to victory over the San Francisco Fire at Gran Estadio Azteca. The final score was 6-1. The winning pitcher was Sikora, now 15-9. He tossed 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. R.J. Eisen notched his 2nd save in 3 chances.
The Aztecs got a big at-bat from designated hitter Corey Cawley. For the game, Cawley went 1 for 4 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 2nd triple of the season gave Mexico City a 2-0 lead.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Cawley told the Mexico City Bulletin.
The Aztecs improved their record to 93-66 by beating San Francisco.
