Eagles Win with Late Rally
|
Ray Dappen never let Cincinnati get something going. The Indianapolis right-hander commanded his slider in pitching the Eagles to a 2-1 win. Victor Angel earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. His record is now 1-0. The win lifted the Indianapolis record to 92-67.
The Eagles got a clutch hit from catcher Jim Van Donsel. In the bottom of the 13th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Eagles.
"Ray was the difference maker. He was emotionally under control, had good stuff and makeup," said Indianapolis manager Pete DuBay.
