The New York Nightmare had no answer for Hollywood Stars pitcher Chris Benson. They failed to score a single run against him, losing, 9-0. New York managed only 5 hits off Benson, who had 6 strikeouts.

The extraordinarily popular Benson got a standing ovation from the hometown crowd as he left the field, the applause continuing until he returned from the dugout to tip his cap to the crowd.

"Stars fans are the best fans, in my opinion," he said. "It's a great feeling to throw a shutout under any circumstances, but to do it with the crowd behind you like that is just incredible."

To date, Benson has a 7-2 mark in 12 starts with a 2.81 ERA. He has given up 67 hits in 77 innings, struck out 75 and issued 24 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .231 batting average against him.
