Fleet Rack Up 6-2 Win Versus Hollywood
|
The first-place San Diego Fleet picked up another win.
San Diego right-hander B.J. Gonzalez pitched his team to victory over the Hollywood Stars at Peter Seidler Memorial Stadium. The final score was 6-2. Gonzalez, now 1-2, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 9, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Justin Pierce, who is tied for 5th in the NC in saves with 20, earned the save for San Diego.
Jacob Kennedy, who finished 5th in the NC in slugging percentage with .502 in 2015, took Hollywood hurler Nick McGettigan deep in the bottom of the fourth. His 2-run home run put the Fleet on top, 2-1. In all, Kennedy had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.
"Obviously, you want to go out there and be good every time out," said Gonzalez. "I take the ball every day with the same mindset."
With the win, San Diego raised its record to 96-62.
