In a low-scoring clash between Oakland and Sandusky, pitcher Alfredo Tiscareno was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned accolades in the 2-1 win. Hethum Manasarian nailed down his 19th save. The Invaders, at 103-54, have a comfortable 16-game lead in their division.

The Seagulls had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Invaders going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the four-time All-Star Daniel Covarrubias came to the plate. Covarrubias hit a run-scoring double on a 2-2 cutter from Sandusky hurler Steve Gaucher. It was Covarrubias's 33rd double of the year.

"We squandered some opportunities," said Sandusky manager Matt Pollina.
