The Daytona Beach Sea Turtles knocked off the Carolina Reapers, 9-1, at Reedy River Stadium. Mark Root was a big reason Daytona Beach won. The center fielder slugged 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Picking up the win was Rodolfo Soto. He went 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits. The right--hander struck out 6 and walked 3. John Bickel recorded the save, making him 1 for 1.

In the top of the third, former first round draft pick Philip Couillard hit a 2-run home run. The 12th home run of the season for the Daytona Beach third baseman put the Sea Turtles on top, 2-0.

"The boys came out and just played their butts off," said Daytona Beach manager Ken Bennett.

With the win over Carolina, the Sea Turtles improved to 73-85.
