The inspired effort of Tampa Bay right fielder Sam Bingle was not enough to prevent a loss, 5-4, to the Syracuse Scorpions. Bingle was 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Ken Allbaugh, credited with the save, is now 28 for 33 in save opportunities. After today's action, Syracuse sits at 64-93, while Tampa Bay falls to 66-91.

Syracuse used a clutch at-bat from Casey Kearney to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the third inning to put the Scorpions ahead, 5-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

Syracuse manager Josh Gifford praised his team's "businesslike approach."
