Syracuse pitcher Alfredo Tiscareno had a large part in his team beating the Boston Whistlers, 2-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. John Landgren recorded the save, making him 20 for 24. The win gives the Scorpions a record of 54-103.

The Whistlers had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Scorpions going into the top of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old right fielder Casey Kearney came to the plate. Kearney hit a solo home run on a first pitch sinker from Boston hurler Kory Pullar. It was Kearney's 12th home run of the year.

"I take a professional approach to my job," said Tiscareno. "I've been around this game for a while."
