Great Effort by Mounties LF Shultz Not Enough in 7-4 Loss
|
The San Diego Fleet had to overcome a big game from Vancouver left fielder Brian Shultz to leave Mounties Field with a victory. And they did, winning, 7-4. Shultz was 3-4 with 2 home runs, while scoring 3 and driving in 3. Ricardo Alvarado got the win, improving to 2-3. He worked 6 innings, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 3. Brad Antol was credited with the save for San Diego, his 24th of the season.
Severo Salcido, the San Diego shortstop, contributed a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to make the score 5-2, Fleet. For the game, Salcido was 2-4 with 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Salcido said.
The winning continues for San Diego, with the latest triumph making it 7 straight.
