Schalow Socks Scorpions in 8-4 Captains Win
|
The Tampa Bay Captains defeated the Syracuse Scorpions, 8-4, at Ahoy Park. Tampa Bay was led by 25-year old left fielder Hunter Schalow, who was 4-4 with 2 home runs and 2 singles, while scoring 3 and driving in 3. Earning the save was Carlos Barraza. He's now cashed in 2 of 3 save opportunities. The second-place Captains bumped their record to 71-86.
Schalow contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Tampa Bay in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 3-2, Schalow took a fastball from Dave Holzman and stroked the home run to left. His 21st home run of the season allowed the Captains to leap in front, 4-3.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Schalow.
