Thomas Helps San Diego Outscore Hollywood
The San Diego Fleet defeated the Hollywood Stars, 13-11, at Hollywood Grounds. San Diego left fielder Tony Thomas had a superb performance. He was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Brad Antol got the save, his 11th in 16 chances. The Fleet improved their record to 96-60 by beating Hollywood.

The Fleet got a big hit from third baseman Paul Pittman. Facing Hollywood pitcher Dave Kramer in the top of the fifth, Pittman pounded a grand slam home run to center. His 23rd home run of the season put the Fleet ahead, 12-4.

"See ball, hit ball. When I think too much, that's when I get in trouble," Thomas told the San Diego Citizen.
