New York Nightmare starter Dustin Lewis hurled his team past the Fountain Hills 23ers, 4-2. The winner was Lewis. He threw 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Mark Luby. By defeating Fountain Hills, the last-place Nightmare improved to 57-99.

Matt Davis had a big solo home run for the Nightmare in the bottom of the third inning. With New York leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a slider from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Mark Luby and punished it. The result was his 13th home run of the season, which put the Nightmare on top, 2-0.

Davis called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
