Captains Lose By a Run at Daytona Beach
In a low-scoring tilt between the Daytona Beach Sea Turtles and the Tampa Bay Captains, Jeff Adams, who finished 3rd in the NC in saves with 33 last year, was the difference-maker. The Daytona Beach right-hander spearheaded the 1-0 win. The win went to Christian Chervenka in relief, making him now 1-3. Scott White took the loss for Tampa Bay. David Rogers picked up the save for Daytona Beach, his 10th of the year.

Derek Maher was 1-3 for Daytona Beach. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the seventh inning, Maher, who finished 3rd in the NC in extra base hits with 71 in 2020, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Tampa Bay hurler Mike Grotjohn, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Sea Turtles a 1-0 lead.

"If you chase it, you need to get it," said Daytona Beach skipper Edwin Gomez.

Daytona Beach is last in the National Conference South Division with a record of 21-37.
