Royals Send Indianapolis Home with 5-4 Loss
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Indianapolis Eagles and Cincinnati Royals get after it.
The Cincinnati Royals knocked off the Indianapolis Eagles, 5-4, in National Conference action at The Castle. Cincinnati pitcher and Martinez, California, native Josh Huggins had an outstanding performance. The win was credited to 25-year old right-handed pitcher Jayson Wagner in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Ray Dappen took the loss. Roberto Salazar got the save, his 40th in 43 chances.
Scott King went 1 for 3 for Cincinnati. The 25-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Ray Dappen. It was his 31st RBI of the season.
"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Huggins.
Cincinnati has now won 4 straight, while the Eagles have lost 3 in a row.
