Philadelphia Beaten, 4-1, by Detroit
|
The Detroit Giants got a good effort from starter Quito Herrera in defeating the Philadelphia Marauders at Ballpark of Detroit. The final score was 4-1. The win belonged to Jason Seymour in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Jaden Melrose took the loss for Philadelphia. Lee Maher converted his 28th save in 33 tries.
Detroit took a 3-1 lead on Steve McLaughlin's 22nd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which McLaughlin hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Philadelphia pitcher Jaden Melrose visibly frustrated.
McLaughlin attributed the win to his team's "collective resolve."
The Giants now have a record of 72-83 with the win over Philadelphia.
