The Detroit Giants beat the Philadelphia Marauders, 1-0. Detroit pitcher and Lincoln, Nebraska, native Quito Herrera led the way. The winning pitcher was Herrera, now 5-3. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 8. The Giants now have a record of 85-69 with the win over Philadelphia.
Detroit took a 1-0 lead on Cameron Witt's 15th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Witt hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Philadelphia pitcher Malcolm Freeman visibly frustrated.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Witt, "one at-bat at a time."
