Giants Pull Out Late-Game Win, 3-2
In a low-scoring affair between the Detroit Giants and the Philadelphia Marauders, pitcher Beau Larson was the difference between victory and defeat. The Detroit right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-2 Giants win. Detroit reliever Heath Maughn picked up the win to move to 6-5. Jaden Melrose suffered the loss. Lee Maher converted his 39th save in 44 tries.

Had Alex Martinez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Martinez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Giants.

"That's baseball," said Philadelphia manager Danny Ordaz. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."

Detroit is now 79-75, Philadelphia 81-73.
