Fountain Hills Loss Spoils Terrific Game by Tibbs
The Detroit Giants besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Fountain Hills right fielder Joe Tibbs by beating the 23ers, 9-7, at Fountain Park. Tibbs went 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Detroit is now 60-93, Fountain Hills 70-83.

Detroit used the clutch hitting of Steve McLaughlin to capture the win. The center fielder drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to give the Giants the lead, 8-7. For the game, McLaughlin had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.

Detroit manager Blake Barber was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys went out there and put good wood on the ball," he said.
