2026 is shaping up to be a forgettable year for the Chicago Gangsters.

The Syracuse Scorpions downed the Chicago Gangsters, 5-1, at The Hideout. Stellar pitching by Bob Garbee had a lot to do with it. The right-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. The Scorpions sport a record of 53-100.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Alex Cruz? The Syracuse shortstop had a 2-run single in the top of the third inning to put the Scorpions on top, 2-0. For the game, Cruz had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Syracuse manager Jose Torres. "It's usually not just one thing."
