The Austin Desperados knocked off the New York Nightmare, 5-4, in American Conference action at Nightmare Stadium. Austin pitcher and East Lake, Florida, native Joe Townsend had an outstanding performance. Townsend, the winner, moves to 14-5. He threw 6 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 2 walks. With the win, the Desperados have a record of 92-60.

Austin designated hitter Ross Gotch contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the sixth. With two down, he hit a curveball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 94th hit of the season and put the Desperados ahead, 4-1.

"We did enough to win," said Townsend.
