Behind a solid performance from catcher Malachi Smith, the Sandusky Seagulls defeated the San Francisco Fire, 7-2. Smith went 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 2 for the Seagulls. Rob Griffin, the winner, goes to 10-9. He allowed 1 run on 5 hits, with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts over 7.2 innings. The Seagulls saw their win-loss record go to 62-89. At the same time, the Fire fell to 79-72.
Justin Bauer was 3-4 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Sandusky. The 24-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the second. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a 2-run single off Adam Ryan. It was his 124th hit of the season.
