The Austin Desperados locked up a win at Dell Diamond, knocking off the Cincinnati Royals, 7-2. On the mound for Austin was right-hander J.R. Mitchell. He played a major role in the triumph. Cincinnati now owns a losing streak of 5 games.

Emilio Abreu had a big run-scoring double for the Desperados in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Austin leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a splitter from Casey Abbott, who finished 4th in the NC in innings pitched with 212.1 in 2013, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 6th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Desperados ahead, 3-1.

"J.R. mixed and matched," said Austin manager Adam Ponder.
