Behind a fine performance from Leo Orozco, the Halifax Heathens knocked off the Detroit Giants, 9-6. Orozco was 3-5 with 2 home runs for the Heathens. The win went to Nick McGettigan in relief. His record improves to 5-5. Tony Gutierrez took the loss. The Heathens lead the American Conference South Division by 5 games.

Halifax used the timely hitting of Bruce Richards to seize the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Heathens on top, 8-6. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Orozco. "And not try to do too much."
