Royals Beaten By Whistlers, 3-1

The Boston Whistlers picked up a win at The Castle, knocking off the Cincinnati Royals, 3-1. Starting pitcher Pat Wilber played a key role in the triumph. The winning pitcher was Wilber, now 10-9. He tossed 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 7. Boston, at 74-76, is 7 games up in the American Conference Central Division.
Boston used a well-timed hit by Jeff Beeson to capture the win. The second baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Whistlers ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"Makes our job easier," said Beeson, "when our pitchers shut the opposition down."
