Oakland 4-1 Losers to Fire
|
San Francisco third baseman Jonathan Raley played a vital role in his team's 4-1 conquest of Oakland. He went 2-4 with a home run and a triple. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for San Francisco. Pat Daughtry, the winner, improved to 2-4. He held the Invaders to 1 run on 5 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 2. The loss makes Oakland 85-65.
With San Francisco trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Raley hit a fastball from Dennis Allen for a 2-run home run. It was his 7th home run of the season and put the Fire ahead, 2-1.
"Makes our job easier," said Raley, "when our pitchers shut the opposition down."
