The Hollywood Stars had to overcome a good performance from Carolina pitcher Jimmy DeMoss to claim a 3-1 win at Reedy River Stadium. DeMoss went 6 innings and allowed 3 runs. Jeremy Philbrick earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. Hollywood currently is in third place in the National Conference West Division at 81-68.
Paul Ainsworth, who is tied for 9th in the NC in triples with 6, had a direct impact on the outcome. Ainsworth contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put Hollywood up, 3-1.
"Our offense was purring," said Hollywood manager Alex Aguilera. "Like a well-oiled machine."
