Eagles Best Whistlers in Pitching Duel
|
The Indianapolis Eagles did just enough to sneak past the Boston Whistlers, 2-1, at Eagles Stadium. Indianapolis pitcher John Hennig, in particular, had a standout performance. Hennig yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7. His record improves to 8-5. Aaron Daniels earned the save for Indianapolis.
In the bottom of the second, Indianapolis designated hitter Marc McCain had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 3rd and two out, McCain stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 2-0, Indianapolis. For the game, he was 1 for 3 with a walk.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Hennig said.
The win gives Indianapolis a season record of 75-74.
