The Halifax Heathens spoiled a good performance by Detroit left fielder Ben Shafer, bumping off Detroit, 9-8, at Estadio Azteca. Shafer was 5 for 5 with a double and 4 singles. Chris Johnson snagged the win in relief. He goes to 9-4 on the season. Lee Maher suffered the loss. The triumph puts Halifax at 93-56 for the season.

Leo Orozco was the walk-off hero for Halifax. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Heathens designated hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"We came out aggressive," said Heathens manager David Morris. "We came out swinging the bats."
