Desperados Topple Giants, 10-8, as Hawkins Shines
Dan Hawkins added some punch to the Austin offense, helping them outmuscle the Detroit Giants, 10-8. In the game, Hawkins was 2-2 with a home run, a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Austin reliever Chris Frost picked up the win to move to 1-2. Quito Herrera suffered the loss. Bob Baucke earned his 47th save in 52 tries.

Austin right fielder Leo Serna helped the Desperados go up, 8-6, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Serna hit a 2-run single off Detroit pitcher Chris Fitzsimmons.

"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Hawkins.

The second-place Desperados now have a record of 90-59.
