Chicago first baseman Mike Gohlke made his presence felt in the 5-3 Gangsters triumph over the Maine Pines. Gohlke was 2 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Keith Kramer got credit for the save for Chicago. It was his 24th of the year. The last-place Gangsters now have a win-loss record of 52-96.

With Chicago leading 1-0 in the top of the third, Gohlke came up to bat against Maine pitcher Matt Graham. Gohlke hit a cutter to right for a 3-run home run. His 20th home run of the season put the Gangsters on top, 4-0.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Gohlke told a Chicago Herald reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
