Scorpions Win at Toronto, 5-3
|
The Syracuse Scorpions beat the Toronto Trash Pandas, 5-3. Syracuse pitcher and Hanover Township, New Jersey, native Chris Dries led the way. Dries, now 7-16, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 5, walking 4, and allowing 1 run. Elijah Miller earned the save for Syracuse, his 31st.
Syracuse used a clutch hit from Eric Bradstreet to get the win. The designated hitter drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Scorpions ahead, 5-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"I'm happy we won," said Dries. "That's first and foremost. My goal is for the team to win the day I pitch, however it's done."
The last-place Trash Pandas have lost 5 straight games.
