Mexico City Absorbs 2-1 Loss to Oakland
|
The Oakland Invaders downed the Mexico City Aztecs, 2-1, at Howard Terminal. Stellar pitching by Cody Fields had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 3rd in the NC with a 1.06 WHIP, handcuffed his opponent all game. Fields picked up the win for Oakland, going 6.2 innings. He gave up 1 run on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 14-9. With the win, Oakland upped its record to 85-62.
John Piscitelli, who finished 4th in the NC in batting average with .316 in 2024, chipped in a run-scoring single for Oakland in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"It wasn't easy, but we got it done," said Piscitelli.
