The Phoenix Gladiators licked the New York Nightmare, 15-2. Miguel Gutierrez deserved a big chunk of the credit. The designated hitter went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 4 for the Gladiators. Derrick Espinosa was the winner. He's now 9-7. The loser was 24-year old left-handed pitcher Felix Marquez. Dan Bruce collected his 1st save.

In the first inning, Gutierrez had a grand slam home run for Phoenix. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Gladiators on top, 5-0.

Losing skipper called the defeat "kind of a clunker all around."

The second-place Gladiators bumped their record to 74-73.
